Tuesday horse racing tips
Redcar
- 2.50: Champion Lawman 11/2 each-way (1pt)
- 3.50: Classic Encounter 11/8 (1pt)
Leicester
- 2.10: Victory Gold 10/11 (1pt)
Champion Lawman
Cape Fear placed narrowly behind Fighter’s Spirit at Beverley when carrying 4lb more than the rival, but then placed nearly six lengths behind him at Windsor despite carrying 3lb less in the rematch.
That three-year-old is now rated 91 while Cape Fear is now rated 78, there could be more to come if proving his latest run was more of an anomaly.
Champion Lawman was favourite on his debut but beaten at Lingfield quite comfortably by three rivals, that said the step up in trip is an interesting one and one the pedigree doesn’t scream out for on his sire’s side.
He’s a full brother to Panama Red, a mare who has only been seen at most at an extended 1m, but notably rated 100 before retiring in October 2023.
Hoseki’s step up to 1m2f makes a lot of sense given Saxon Warrior’s ability over this distance and William Haggas is in good form, but this filly has been markedly disappointing – over 7l behind at Newcastle last time out and nearly 5l behind on debut at Newbury.
Champion Lawman has drifted a touch but looks capable of more at a more appealing price than the two favourites especially given the each-way market, to finish top two to still see some profit.
Classic Encounter
Here we have a favourite, Classic Encounter, looking most likely on form given he’s proven more at this distance than all the other rivals.
Desert Shadow is still a maiden and looking to seek improvement stepping back in trip and similarly Andesite is hoping for more going up from 6f/7f to 1m.
Both Classic Encounter and Andesite could also see more now that they are dropping down in class again and all signs point towards the favourite being able to outclass them all.
Victory Gold
This horse went close up behind Night In Vegas last time out, on debut, and that horse has since gone on to win again.
This colt now finds a race filled with debutants and that added experience plus confirmed form makes him an ideal bet.
Saeed bin Suroor deploys Oisin Murphy to be on board and that’s a big statement for this Godolphin-owned two-year-old.
