Truist Championship 2026 LIVE: Tee times, field, leaderboard and prize money as Tommy Fleetwood seeks victory

The Truist Championship returns to Quail Hollow in North Carolina this week for the PGA Tour’s sixth Signature Event of the season.

Golf’s leading names will once again compete for their share of $20million in Charlotte, after last year’s instalment saw Sepp Straka triumph in Philadelphia.

Straka is looking to become the first player in the competition’s history to defend his title, but he is going to need a brilliant round three and four.

Among his challengers are back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy, who has triumphed on four occasions in this tournament.

The Northern Irishman has not featured since victory at Augusta in April, but has confirmed he will be back out on the course this week.

And he’s made a good start, sitting five under par.

Also targeting glory in North Carolina are two-time major winner Xander Schauffele, as well as England’s Matt Fitzpatrick, who has won three events so far this season.

But it is South Korea’s Im Sung-jae that leads the way with Tommy Fleetwood one shot back.

The tournament suffered a delayed start due to heavy rain in Charlotte.

Truist Championship 2026: Date and how to follow

This PGA Tour event is taking place from Thursday, May 7 through to Sunday, May 10.

It is being held at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Play was due to start at 12:45pm UK time on Thursday but bad weather meant the event was delayed.

The opening tee shots are schedule to be hit at 5:30pm following the storming conditions but players could face further delays.

Preferred lies will be in effect for the first round when the action finally gets underway and there will now be a two-tee start with groups of three rather than pairings.

Truist Championship 2026: Rory’s return

As mentioned, McIlroy will make his first appearance since clinching back-to-back Masters victories at Quail Hollow this week.

A week ahead of this Thursday’s start date, it was announced on social media that the six-time major winner would be making his grand return.

A post on X read: “Welcome six-time major champion, Rory McIlroy, to the Truist Championship!”

McIlroy’s last victory at Quail Hollow came in 2024 when he recorded a five-shot victory over Xander Schauffele.

He finished in a tie for seventh in 2025, six shots behind eventual winner Straka.

The 37-year-old stopped short of committing to a host of events in the weeks following the Masters, and has previously said he is scaling back his commitments in 2026 to focus on bigger events.

McIlroy will headline next week’s PGA Championship, starting on May 14, making the Truist his ideal preparation.
