Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal predictions and betting tips – Tudor enters north London derby

Tottenham Hotspur are under new management once again. Following the dismissal of Thomas Frank last week, Igor Tudor has been appointed as his replacement until the end of the season.

Can Tudor instantly win over the fans by guiding Tottenham to victory over Arsenal in the north London derby, or will the league leaders triumph?

Well then. It looks like we have a Premier League title race on our hands.

Less than two weeks ago, Arsenal were on the cusp of going nine points clear at the top of the table having played the same number of games as their title rivals.

Two Manchester City goals changed everything. A 1-0 deficit against Liverpool became a 2-1 lead onto which City held until the final whistle at Anfield.

The gap was down to six and then three after Pep Guardiola’s team beat Fulham 3-0 last midweek. In their next outing Arsenal could only manage a 1-1 draw with Brentford, increasing their advantage but not to the extent they would have liked.

No matter. Wednesday night provided a golden opportunity for Arsenal to open up a seven-point separation between themselves and City.

In a game brought forward from the weekend of the EFL Cup final, when the Premier League’s top two will directly compete for a piece of silverware, Arsenal faced Wolverhampton Wanderers, not just the worst team of the current campaign but one of the poorest in the top flight’s modern history.

When Arsenal made it 2-0 early in the second half, a Piero Hincapie strike building on Bukayo Saka’s early header, Mikel Arteta’s men were precisely where they wanted to be.

Then they threw it all away. Hugo Bueno halved the deficit in the 69th minute as Arsenal looked increasingly nervous. Then, in stoppage time, a defensive mix-up involving David Raya and Gabriel Magalhaes led to a Riccardo Calafiori own goal.

From 2-0 down, Wolves – a Championship club in a matter of weeks – were level. Arsenal did not so much shoot themselves in the foot as blow off their entire leg.

All of a sudden, the title is in City’s hands. Win their game in hand and the gap is down to two, with Arsenal still having to visit the Etihad Stadium.

By the time they next take to the field, the Gunners could be under even more pressure. If City beat Newcastle United on Saturday, they would be within touching distance of Arsenal ahead of the north London derby.

Tottenham Hotspur are having a miserable season, but this is a potential banana skin for Arsenal. Thomas Frank has gone and Igor Tudor is ready to take charge of his first Spurs game. A new manager bounce is a distinct possibility.

Tottenham Hotspur vs Arsenal betting tips

There is no love lost between Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal – who will claim the bragging rights on Sunday?

Spurs can frustrate rivals

Tottenham Hotspur fans have not had much to celebrate this season, but they have a chance to belatedly kick-start their campaign on Sunday.

Spurs were dire in the first north London derby of 2025/26, sinking to defeat without a trace at the Emirates Stadium.

Interim boss Tudor has a reputation for making an instant impact at new clubs and his arrival may well have galvanised an underperforming team.

Tottenham will also take heart from the recent struggles of their adversaries, who have won only one of their last four away games in the Premier League.

No clean sheets here

Arsenal have the best defensive record in the Premier League. For much of the season it has been extremely difficult to breach their backline.

Not of late, though. Wolves scored twice against the Gunners last time out. Manchester United struck three times against them a few weeks back. Brentford scored once and created several more chances at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur can take advantage of Arsenal’s defensive woes, especially if Tudor adopts a more front-footed approach than the conservative game plans preferred by his predecessor.

At the same time, and despite their recent issues, Arsenal should make the net ripple, as they have done in nine consecutive matches in all competitions.

Solanke good value

Frank did not do enough to earn a longer spell as Tottenham Hotspur boss, but it is only fair to point out that he was unfortunate with injuries.

The absence for the entire season up to now of Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison compounded Tottenham’s creation problems.

On top of that, Dominic Solanke missed most of Frank’s tenure. When he did return to full fitness last month, the striker made a huge difference.

Solanke recently notched a brace against Manchester City. This weekend, he can help them by scoring against Arsenal.
