The Indian Premier League (IPL) started in 2008 and it did not take the tournament much time to become a popular brand. Fans wait with bated breath for the start of a new season. Many consider the league as a festival in the cricket-crazy nation. Ahead of the 19th edition of the IPL, which commences next year, let's take a look at the top four most searched teams from 2025.

4. Lucknow Super Giants

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) ranked seventh on Google's list of most searched sports teams in 2025. Established ahead of IPL 2022, LSG made a huge signing ahead of last season as they roped in Rishabh Pant for a record-shattering INR 27 crore at the mega-auction and subsequently named him as the captain of the side. However, under his leadership, LSG blew hot and cold and eventually finished at No. 7 on the points table, with six wins and eight defeats in 14 matches.

3. Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans (GT) were placed just above LSG, at No. 6,  on the list of most searched sports teams in 2025. The Shubman Gill-led side bounced back strongly in IPL 2025 after going through a disappointing campaign the previous season.

The Titans won nine matches and lost five out of the 14 they played in the season. They lost to the Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator and had to bid farewell to the tournament. However, GT players Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna won the Orange and Purple caps, respectively, showing how brilliant some of the domestic players in their squad are.

2. Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals (DC) started IPL 2025 with some remarkable performances. Under Axar Patel's leadership, they won their first four matches of the season. However, they managed just three wins in their last nine completed games to finish at No. 5.

On the list of most searched IPL teams in 2025, Delhi Capitals are ranked at No. 5. The Capitals assembled a strong side in the IPL 2026 mini-auction, especially after recruiting overseas stars like David Miller, Pathum Nissanka, Ben Duckett, Lungi Ngidi, among others.

1. Punjab Kings

Punjab Kings are the most searched IPL team in 2025 as per Google trends. They are fourth on the list of most searched sports teams, with Paris Saint-German FC, Benfica, and Toronto Blue Jays being the top three.

The Kings had a memorable outing in IPL 2025 under Shreyas Iyer's captaincy, as the Punjab-based franchise made it to the finals of the IPL for the first time since 2014. They lost the final to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Ahmedabad.
