Titans rumors: Insider pushes back hard on Sonny Styles smoke

The Tennessee Titans have to be excited before the 2026 NFL Draft. Tennessee enters the draft with the fourth overall selection, which will almost certainly net them a blue chip player. But there is still some debate on which players make sense for the Titans at the top of the draft.

Titans insider Easton Freeze pushed back hard on the idea of Tennessee taking Sonny Styles with the fourth overall pick.

“I do not think Styles is a serious consideration at the 4th pick,” Freeze wrote on Tuesday. “The Titans like Styles a lot. Some absolutely love him. But this is a positional impact discussion, and a math discussion. It’s a simple numbers game at the top: At least one of Reese, Bailey, and Love must be on the board for the Titans at 4. And I feel very strongly that they wouldn’t pass on one of those players for the off-ball linebacker Styles.”

Freeze explained that Tennessee should have better options available at four than Styles.

Las Vegas is expected to take QB Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick. That means Tennessee should have their pick of Arvell Reese (Ohio State), David Bailey (Texas Tech), and Jeremiyah Love (Notre Dame) at four.

Freeze argued that any of those three players would be a better investment than Styles.

Ultimately, Freeze believes all of the smoke around Styles is a gambit to drum up interest in a trade.

“I believe the Titans think a team could trade with them for a defender, but not Love,” Freeze concluded. “And I think all of this draft week smoke is proof positive of their serious appetite to move down for a fair offer. The Borgonzi-Brinker regime has been steadfast on one thing from the beginning: we want more top-100 picks.”

Titans fans won’t have to wait long on Thursday night to see what their team actually does.
