Titans president steps down days after 2026 NFL Draft

The Tennessee Titans are headed into a new era with Robert Saleh, Cam Ward, and new logos and uniforms. On Tuesday, more change was thrust upon the front office thanks to a stunning resignation. Titans president of football operations Chad Brinker stepped down from his role just days after the NFL Draft.

“Over the years, I’ve understood and embraced my role as the leader of the football strategy, but as I’ve spent less time in personnel, I have a renewed conviction that it is time to return to what I love and move towards my next chapter,” Brinker wrote in a statement.

Brinker rose through the scouting ranks with the Green Bay Packers, becoming the Titans’ assistant GM in 2023. In 2024, he was promoted to team president, where he resided until Tuesday. Ran Carthon hired Brinker as the AGM, but owner Amy Adams Strunk kept him around after firing Carthon. But once the Titans hired Mike Borgonzi as the general manager, Brinker’s role became murky. Now, he will pursue another opportunity.

The Titans do not necessarily have to fill the vacancy left by Brinker. Considering Borgonzi ran the draft, and Adams Strunk is very involved in the team, they have plenty of voices in the room moving forward. Tennessee hired Saleh as their head coach this offseason, moving on from Brian Callahan during the 2025 campaign.

As for Brinker’s future, a return to the Green Bay Packers cannot be ruled out. They just lost Jon-Eric Sullivan to the Miami Dolphins GM role. He was serving as VP of player personnel before the move to South Florida. But if Brinker’s former team is not interested, maybe Sullivan can swoop in and bring him to Miami.

Can the Titans turn things around in Cam Ward’s sophomore season? Or will there be another front office re-organization next year?
