Timberwolves vs. Spurs 2026 NBA Western Conference Semifinals Game 2 prediction, odds, pick

The 2026 NBA Playoffs continue with the Western Conference Semifinals as we’re back for a prediction and pick for this upcoming Game 2 tilt. The Minnesota Timberwolves will look to steal another road win against the San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota leading 1-0. Check our NBA Playoffs odds series for the Timberwolves-Spurs prediction and pick.

The Minnesota Timberwolves stole Game 1 on the road in San Antonio to the tune of 104-102, outlasting the Spurs in a game that was close down to the wire. Both teams went on their own runs of momentum, but Anthony Edwards’ clutch play in the final seven minutes along with a shooting drought from the Spurs ultimately decided the first game of this series.

Heading into Game 2, the Spurs are expected to bounce back with a resounding win at home as they’re almost 10-point home favorites. However, Minnesota is now 3-1 against San Antonio during the regular season and postseason with a chance to take a 2-0 lead back home to Minneapolis.

Keys to Timberwolves vs. Spurs Matchup

The Minnesota Timberwolves were able to come up with a huge Game 1 win as +10.5-point underdogs on the road in San Antonio, keeping the Spurs’ largest lead to just seven points at home in answering all of their scoring runs. Anthony Edwards came alive in the fourth quarter with 11 points on a number of momentum-swinging buckets, but it was Julius Randle dominating the glass with 21 point and 10 rebounds against Victor Wembanyama. The pairing of both him and Rudy Gobert inside has proven to be a problem as Gobert’s single block and four steals caused frustration for Wembanyama all night.

The Spurs should be in for a much better performance in Game 2 given their 10-36 (28%) mark from three. The Spurs are typically shooting 39.2% at home during this postseason, so expect their production from beyond the arc to improve in this showing. Rookie Dylan Harper led the Spurs in scoring with 18 points and a number of opportune buckets around the rim. Expect De’Aaron Fox to get involved with his facilitating early knowing Harper can provide a scoring boost off the bench.

Still, the Timberwolves hardly saw their best effort with a 57% mark from the free-throw line (12-21), so they should also see an improvement in that category during this second game. Their defense came up big in forcing 14 turnovers in a game where the Spurs’ scoring runs were held in check thanks to efforts from players like Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid. Bones Hyland also went 0-4 from three in Game 1, so expect him to bounce back with a few makes in this one.

It’s tough to imagine this Spurs’ team dropping two-straight at home in this series as Victor Wembanyama has an uncharacteristic 5-17 night from the field. He also attempted just two free-throws all game and had a tough time get through Randle and Gobert, but expect him to have much more of an impact this time around.

Timberwolves vs. Spurs Prediction and Pick

The Spurs were stunned in Game 1 of this series and it doesn’t seem as though they’re prepared to drop two-straight games at home given this current betting line. While Game 1 was a hard-fought defensive battle, both offenses should start to come alive as they pick up the scoring in this one.

Minnesota’s record against the spread has been undeniable against the Spurs and winning three of four meetings this season, we’ll side with the betting underdogs and the points as I still expect San Antonio to win this game.

Final Timberwolves-Spurs Game 2 Prediction & Pick: Minnesota Timberwolves +9.5 (-110)
