Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards grabs attention with unexpected NBC player intro
Anthony Edwards is one of the most entertaining personalities in the NBA today. The Minnesota Timberwolves star’s confidence is through the roof, and it shows in both his game and how he acts off the court. The NBA fans saw a preview of that just before the start of the Wolves’ game against the San Antonio Spurs in the playoffs.
The Timberwolves and the Spurs are in the middle of a crucial Game 5 of their second-round series. During the player introductions that NBC does for the postseason, players usually introduce themselves by their name and their college, similar to what NFL players do for Sunday Night Football. When Edwards came on for the introduction, he had a rather… unique way of introducing himself.

Edwards has been a problem for the Spurs in the postseason so far. While he was quiet in the first two games, scoring just 30 points in total, he’s breached 30 points in Games 3 and 4 to help tie the series against the second-seeded San Antonio team. He’s up to 12 points at the start of the third quarter of Game 5. He’s added two assists in the game so far.
The Timberwolves found themselves down by 12 to start the quarter, but a spirited 12-2 run to start the second half has the Wolves within striking distance of the Spurs. Minnesota is coming off a 114-109 win against the Spurs after Victor Wembanyama was ejected in that game for a vicious elbow against Naz Reid. After that game, Edwards talked about how he expects the Spurs to come out stronger in Wembanyama’s return.
“Now it’s just taking it one game at a time, try to figure out how to get a win. That’s the only thing that’s on my mind right now. They’re going to have Wemby back, he’s going to come in with a lot of energy so just watch some film together and try to figure it out,”
The Timberwolves are looking to take a commanding 3-2 series lead and a chance to eliminate the Spurs in front of a raucous Minnesota crowd. Ayo Dosunmu and Jaden McDaniel also have 12 points for the Wolves.
