Tim Hardaway Jr.’s Nuggets history would be all his if not for Jamal Murray
Denver Nuggets shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. has emerged as one of the best snipers in the 2025-26 NBA season.
He’s been a reliable floor-stretcher for Denver, making life easier on offense for the 1-2 punch of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic, and in Wednesday night’s game at Ball Arena in Denver against the visiting Memphis Grizzlies, the former Michigan Wolverines star added to his resume by becoming the Nuggets franchise’s No. 2 on its all-time list for most 3-pointers in a season, surpassing Michael Porter Jr., who is now with the Brooklyn Nets.
Murray entered the Grizzlies with 218 threes on the season, just two behind Porter on the list. He’s made enough in the game to surpass Porter, and he would have been Denver’s all-time leader in single-season triples if not for the existence of Murray, who still owns the record.
“Tim Hardaway Jr. just passed Michael Porter Jr. for the second-most 3-pointers made in a season. Unfortunately, he’s trailing Jamal Murray, who broke the record earlier this season,” noted Vinny Benedetto of The Denver Gazette.
Hardaway scored 13 points with three 3-pointers in the 136-119 Denver win over Memphis, while Murray had 26 points with five treys.
With just a couple of games left after this meeting with Memphis for Denver, Hardaway is extremely unlikely to break Murray’s record. In any case, he’s proven himself as a legitimate and consistent outside threat for the Nuggets, who are bound for the NBA Playoffs again.
And if Hardaway makes it a mission next season to surpass Murray, he will have to get a new contract with Denver first, as he is playing on just a one-year deal with the Nuggets.
