Tigers announce injury roster move before Red Sox game
The Detroit Tigers made two roster moves before Friday night’s game against the Boston Red Sox, the team announced. Infielder Zack McKinstry was placed on the 10-day injured list while infielder Hao-Yu Lee was promoted to the big leagues in a corresponding move.
“The Tigers today placed infielder Zach McKinstry on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to April 16) with left hip/abdominal inflammation. Infielder Hao-Yu Lee has been recalled from Triple-A Toledo. Lee, who will wear uniform number 50, joins the first major league roster of his career,” the team shared.
After an up and down start to the season, the Tigers have played better in recent action. Losing the versatile McKinstry to injury is far from ideal, but perhaps Lee can make an impact.
Overall, the Tigers have dealt with some injury trouble early in 2026. Nevertheless, they will enter Friday’s game in third place in the American League Central division with a 10-9 record.
Lee, 23, has spent time at Single-A and Triple-A this season. Overall, he has hit .194/.231/.278. In his minor league career, however, the infielder has recorded a slash line of .271/.358/.433. In 2025 at Triple-A, Lee hit 14 home runs in 126 games played. He has potential, and it will be interesting to see what he can do at the big league level.
The Tigers are set to begin a four-game series in Boston against the Red Sox on Friday night. The series will last through Monday. First pitch on Friday night is scheduled for 7:15 PM EST in what projects to be a competitive matchup.
