Thursday horse racing tips

York

• 2.20: Redorange 11/1 each-way (1pt)
• 3.30: Diamond Rain 11/4 (1pt)
• 4.05: Morshdi 4/1 (1pt)

Redorange

There’s a whole host of big handicaps at York this week including this big field in the Lindum York Handicap over 5f.

The sprint sees plenty of horses rated around the 90 mark but a couple into the 100’s as well hoping to defy the top-weights.

Redorange is potentially well-weighted as he placed a very close third of 20 off this mark at Goodwood last July.

He then went close at Deauville behind Miss Attitude before being reduced 4lb for two successive lesser efforts at the end of the season so appeals a lot with Ryan Moore on board a bonus.

Copper Knight loves it here and the 12-year-old is still getting winners on the board but he hasn’t won here since July 2023 so could be sided against quite easily.

Diamond Rain

Diamond Rain finished ahead of See The Fire when they went against each other at Del Mar in the Breeders’ Cup in November.

See The Fire went on to win on seasonal debut in a fairly weak listed race at Nottingham but this Godolphin-owned horse looks a great price to get back to winning ways.

Morshdi

Beat the promising Poseidon’s Warrior last time out, who didn’t exactly go well himself next time but the form still works out very well.

This colt is 2/3 and looks progressive for William Haggas who’s in incredible form as is jockey Tom Marquand.
