Hall of Fame forward Carmelo Anthony played a role in New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby’s game-winning put-back shot in Game 4 of a historic 29-point comeback in a 107-106 thriller at Madison Square Garden. The former Knicks All-Star shouted out advice to Anunoby moments before the game-winning shot.

Anthony recalled how he communicated with Anunoby before his walk-off put-back gave the Knicks a 3-1 lead in the NBA Finals, he said, per ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

“Coming out of that timeout, I made eye contact with them and was yelling ‘The offensive rebound is there! Somebody go!’ “I didn’t know who was going to go,” Anthony said. “But I just kept yelling, somebody go!”

Anunoby finished with 33 points on 10-for-15 shooting, including seven threes, and four rebounds in the one-point win. Carmelo Anthony, now a broadcaster for NBC Sports/Peacock, played seven seasons with the Knicks from 2010 to 2017.

Brian Windhorst’s ‘double statue’ take on Knicks’ OG Anunoby

Knicks forward OG Anunoby made two incredible plays in Game 4. He made an incredible block to keep the Knicks’ comeback alive before his put-back shot put his team up for good with 1.2 seconds left.

After the win, Brian Windhorst commended Anunoby for both winning plays, per ESPN’s SportsCenter.

“Everyone’s talking about this tip-in. Unbelievable. The block. Both of those moments could be turned into statues. In fact, I suggest turning both of them into statues. You should have a double statue,” said Windhorst.

“(The block) is a LeBron James-esque play. He may have just played one of the greatest halves in the history of the sport.”
