The next trade Suns must make after acquiring Miles Bridges from Hornets

The Phoenix Suns have made several moves this offseason in an attempt to stay competitive for next season, and their recent move shows that they’re all in. The Suns acquired Miles Bridges from the Charlotte Hornets, and they now have a serviceable forward to insert into their starting lineup.

Some would say that the Suns now have a roster that could be ready to start the season, but with the assets they’ve built over the coming years with a number of draft picks, something bigger might be on the horizon, such as another trade.

If the Suns were looking to really try to take things to the next level, the one trade they’ll need to make is for Ja Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies guard has been on the trade block since the trade deadline, but it seems like they haven’t gotten an offer they liked. It’s obvious that Morant’s trade value is not great, and the Grizzlies know they’re not going to get much in return.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were rumored to have interest in him, but they moved on and acquired LaMelo Ball. The New Orleans Pelicans have also been a team rumored to have interest, but it’s uncertain what they plan on doing with their roster this offseason.

This is where the Suns come in and make a splash for the guard, an area that they need depth in. Devin Booker has played point guard for the past few seasons, and though he’s shown the ability to do so, that’s not his natural position. Trading for Morant takes the pressure off Booker and others, while also adding someone who can still score at will when he gets to his spot.

Of course, when you trade for somebody like Morant, you have to give something up. With everything the Suns have done so far this offseason, Jalen Green could be the one on the outside looking in. There’s an influx of guards on the team, and he would most likely be moved because of his contract.

Trading Morant for Green would be the ultimate all-in move for the Suns, and if they want to truly compete, they need to do it.
