The maiden Hundred auction took place on Wednesday, March 11, in London. This event marked the start of a new era for the tournament. Cricket enthusiasts had many shockers to digest as some unfancied names bagged huge salaries, while many established names couldn't attract bids.

The auction lasted almost five hours as bidding was fierce from all eight participating teams. In the end, each of them was able to fill their quota of players. New Zealand's Sophie Devine and Australia's Beth Mooney emerged as the biggest winners of the inaugural auction in The Hundred.
