Texas A&M lands top-5 WR over Miami, Alabama

Texas A&M football racked up a massive win already by landing five-star edge rusher Zyron Forstall on April 1. Now the Aggies pulled off another major victory Wednesday, this one over Miami and Alabama.

The Aggies boosted their future offense by landing four-star wide receiver Jaden Upshaw on the College Football Recruiting trail. Upshaw confirmed his decision via Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals.

“Ain’t nothing better than an Aggie,” the star from Lee County High in Leesburg, Ga., told Fawcett.

Upshaw ranks No. 5 overall among state of Georgia prospects. Head coach Mike Elko had assistants Trooper Taylor and Holman Wiggins lead the recruiting efforts to lure in the 6-foot-2 talent. Upshaw cited the coaches as one reason why he chose TAMU.

“I can see myself there. I can see Coach Wiggins and coach (John) Perry getting me to where I want to be. It’s just the people. The coaches around. All of that,” Upshaw told Joseph Hastings of Aggie Yell on On3/Rivals.

Rival Southeastern Conference school Florida also fell into his mix. But he felt a deep connection with Wiggins.

“Now that he’s the offensive coordinator, I’ve sat down with him and he’s going to do what he’s going to do. I feel like he’s going to do a great job,” Upshaw said.

Upshaw brings inside/outside versatility to College Station. That’s great news for a team needing a future KC Concepcion here, as the star wideout heads to the NFL Draft.

The class of 2027 talent caught 47 passes for 902 yards and scored eight touchdowns as a junior. Georgia and even national champion Indiana represented two of Upshaw’s other offers before choosing Texas A&M. Again, the Hurricanes and Crimson Tide landed in his final running before choosing TAMU.
