Saturday football tips

Bet of the Day – Barnet to beat Cambridge 17/10

Barnet’s top-seven hopes are hanging by a thread and the Bees will realistically need to beat Cambridge at the Hive to keep their playoff hopes alive.

The U’s have their own promotion goals, with Neil Harris’ men in contention for an automatic upgrade and perhaps even the League Two title.

Cambridge have collected 15 points more than Barnet this season, but the Expected Goals numbers have Dean Brennan’s men outperforming the U’s.

Of course, there have been many disappointments for Barnet, but the Bees picked up a huge 3-1 victory at promotion-chasing MK Dons last weekend and things may click again for the north Londoners on Saturday.

At 17/10, there is enough in the price to fancy the Bees to deliver a sting to Cambridge at the Hive.

Special of the Day – Stockport to beat Wimbledon and Kyle Wootton to score at any time bet builder @ 37/20

Stockport have lost only four of their 18 home League One matches this season and the promotion-chasing Hatters can turn the screw in the race for the playoffs.

Dave Challinor’s men battled to a 1-1 draw with in-form Luton last time out and that followed a solid 2-1 success over Northampton.

It hasn’t been all plain sailing for Stockport in recent weeks, but Wimbledon have won only two of their last 10 away games and this looks a tough spot for the Dons.

Kyle Wootton’s 18 League One goals have been crucial to Stockport’s promotion push and the 29-year-old has found the net seven times in his last 11 third-tier appearances.

Wootton is averaging 2.21 shots per 90 minutes in the league this season and the former Notts County forward is a major aerial threat.

Take Stockport to win and Wootton to score in a 37/20 bet builder.

Longshot of the Day – Reading, Blackpool, Barrow treble @ 15/1

It will be a remarkable story if Bromley can secure promotion from League Two, but their hopes could be dealt a blow at Barrow.

The Ravens got the better of Colchester 1-0 last weekend, but Andy Woodman’s men conceded 19 shots in that victory and it was a pretty fortunate result.

Bromley have won four of their last nine matches, but all of those successes have come by a single-goal margin and the south Londoners could come unstuck at Barrow.

Reading are unbeaten in their last nine home games, winning five of those matches and the Royals can boost their playoff hopes by beating a Wigan outfit winless in seven on the road.

Relegation-threatened Blackpool battled to a 0-0 draw at high-flying Cardiff last time out and the Seasiders look to have a golden opportunity to pick up three points when Burton hit the coast.

The Brewers have won only one of their last 11 away League One matches and could come up short again.
