Sunday football betting tips
Bet of the Day – Wolves to beat Newcastle @ 7/2
Imagine for a second that Wolves haven’t been stuck at the bottom of the Premier League all season and have a look at their recent performances and results.
Rob Edwards’ men are unbeaten in their last four matches, a run which has seen them draw 1-1 at Manchester United and Everton, beat West Ham 3-0 at Molineux and crush Shrewsbury 6-1 in the FA Cup.
Wolves only went down narrowly 2-1 to top-level teams in Arsenal and Liverpool and there has to be enough in the recent performances of the Molineux men to think they are overpriced when Newcastle go to the Black Country.
The Magpies were involved in a tough midweek 2-0 League Cup defeat to Manchester City, have shipped eight goals in their last three games and have not been convincing in recent contests against Crystal Palace, Leeds or Bournemouth. Their away record is poor too with just two wins from 10 Premier League away days.
Throw in defensive issues with Dan Burn, Fabian Schar and Tino Livramento on the sidelines and Wolves look to have a big opportunity to collect three points at a very nice price.
Longshot of the Day – Everton to win & over 2.5 goals bet builder @ 29/4
Aston Villa are just six points off the top of the Premier League, but their title hopes could be dented by Everton.
The Villans have won 13 of their last 15 matches in all competitions, but there have been a fair few fortunate results mixed in on that run.
Unai Emery’s men have seen nine of their last 10 victories come by a single-goal margin and their league position is certainly outstripping their performances.
Everton may need a slight upturn in their level to win at Villa Park, but David Moyes’ men have lost only one of their six away Premier League matches and wins at Nottingham Forest, Manchester United and Bournemouth suggest that the Toffees are a little overpriced in this spot.
Given Villa have performed better at home, Everton may ned more than one goal to win it so add over 2.5 goals in a 29/4 bet builder.
Special of the Day – Treble – Barcelona to beat Real Sociedad, Celta Vigo to beat Rayo Vallecano & Milan to beat Lecce @ 13/5
Barcelona’s 2-0 Copa del Rey success over Racing Santander on Thursday evening was an 11th straight victory for the Blaugrana, and while a La Liga trip to Real Sociedad will demand more, the leaders have the best away record in Spain and should still be too strong.
Celta Vigo picked up a solid 1-0 win at Sevilla last time out after previously hammering Valencia 4-1 at the Estadio de Balaidos. The Sky Blues have lost only one of their last eight matches in 90 minutes and should be too good for Rayo Vallecano, who lost 2-0 at Alaves in the Copa del Rey in midweek and were hammered 4-0 at Elche in their last away league game.
Milan impressed when winning 3-1 at Como in midweek to get their Serie A title bid back on track and they can keep the pressure on Inter by beating struggling Lecce, who have taken only one point from their last five Italian top-flight matches.
