T20 World Cup 2026: Michael Levitt smashes car windscreen with monster six off Shaheen Afridi in opener
The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 opener between Pakistan and the Netherlands at Colombo produced a jaw-dropping moment when Michael Levitt sent the crowd into a frenzy with a towering six off Pakistan’s premier pacer Shaheen Afridi. The massive hit not only showcased Levitt’s fearless approach but also led to an unfortunate incident involving a Sri Lankan civilian.
Facing a short delivery on middle and off stump, Levitt reacted swiftly, rocking deep inside the crease and timing the shot to perfection. He connected cleanly and unleashed a powerful pull, sending the ball sailing over deep square leg and out of the stadium. The monstrous six reportedly smashed the windscreen of a passing car outside the ground, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about moments of the tournament. Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha’s stunned reaction to the maximum soon went viral on social media.
Earlier in the match, Pakistan won the toss and opted to bowl first. The Netherlands were bundled out for 147 in 19.5 overs, with skipper Scott Edwards top-scoring with 37 off 29 deliveries, including three fours and a six. Salman Mirza led Pakistan’s bowling attack with impressive figures of 3/24, while Mohammad Nawaz, Saim Ayub, and Abrar Ahmed picked up two wickets each.
