Switzerland vs Colombia – Bet Builder Tips | 17/2 odds and prediction | talkSPORT
Switzerland and Colombia meet in Vancouver in the final match from the Round of 16. The winners of this tie will face either Argentina or Egypt in the World Cup quarter-finals on Sunday morning.
The Swiss made a slow start to their World Cup campaign, drawing their opening match 1-1 with Qatar, but they are now on an impressive three-match winning streak.
Colombia have also shown impressive form. Nestor Lorenzo’s team are unbeaten at the World Cup and qualified for the knockout stages by topping Group K ahead of Portugal and DR Congo.
This tie looks tough to call. So instead of betting on the match outcome, I’ve put together a three-leg bet builder at odds of 17/2 that offers far better value.

Our 17/2 Bet Builder: Both teams to score, Johan Manzambi to score or assist, Luis Diaz over 4 shots
Switzerland and Colombia have both impressed at this World Cup and both have also gone under the radar.
Colombia haven’t been prolific in front of goal and are strong defensively, but despite this, I believe both teams will score. Switzerland have scored in all four of their matches, with Colombia only failing to find the back of the net in their 0-0 draw with Portugal.
Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi is having a breakout World Cup and already has five goal involvements in four matches, while Luis Diaz is one of Colombia’s star performers and has been in the thick of the action, despite only managing one goal and one assist.

Switzerland vs Colombia bet builder breakdown
Both teams to score
Why: Neither team relies on one specific goalscorer. However, Switzerland have scored nine goals at the World Cup and Colombia have scored five times in four matches. Both should have enough ability to score again in this meeting.
Stat: Switzerland have scored in nine of their last ten matches in all competitions, including all four of their World Cup games. Colombia have also scored in nine of their last ten matches. Only against Portugal in their final Group K match did they fail to score.
Bet on Both teams to score at 19/20 with bet365
Johan Manzambi to score or assist
Why: Johan Manzambi is having a great World Cup for Switzerland. He has five goal involvements already, and at just 20 years of age, he is the youngest player to reach that mark at a World Cup since 2010.
Stat: Manzambi scored a 19-minute brace off the bench in Switzerland’s 4-1 win over Bosnia. He then started against Canada in his nation’s third match and scored one and assisted the other in a 2-1 win. His fifth goal involvement came when he recorded the assist for Breel Embolo’s goal against Algeria in the Round of 32.
Bet on Johan Manzambi to score or assist at 2/1 with bet365
Luis Diaz 4+ shots
Why: Colombia may have only scored five goals in four matches at the World Cup, but they are producing plenty of chances. They had 15 shots against Uzbekistan, 20 against DR Congo, 26 against Portugal and 20 against Ghana.
Stat: Diaz has had 16 of Colombia’s 81 shots at the World Cup, averaging four per game. Extra-time is included in this wager, and in a match that may go deep to decide the winner, this leg of the bet offers very good value.
Bet on Luis Diaz over 4 shots at 5/4 with bet365

Stats that matter for your bet
- Both teams to score: Switzerland have scored in all four of their World Cup matches. They have nine goals and seem to be improving as the competition evolves. Colombia only failed to score against Portugal, but they did have 26 efforts at goal in that match and were very unlucky not to score.
- Johan Manzambi to score or assist: The 20-year-old Freiburg midfielder is making a name for himself and has been involved in goals in Switzerland’s previous three matches.
- Luis Diaz over 4 shots: The Bayern winger has had 16 shots in four matches. He is Colombia’s main attacking outlet and should see plenty of the ball against the Swiss.
- Additional information: The Swiss have an xG of 2.54 goals per game at the World Cup, while Colombia’s is 1.47. Colombia leads the head-to-head 2-1 with one match ending in a draw.
Why we are backing this bet builder
We’re backing this bet builder because this match looks extremely tight on paper and it has a look of 1-1 or 2-1 to either side about it.
Johan Manzambi has been involved in three of Switzerland’s last four goals, and Luis Diaz has been a constant threat down Colombia’s left, expertly cutting back onto his right foot as we’ve grown used to seeing him do at Liverpool and now Bayern Munich.
Colombia’s shortage of World Cup goals isn’t down to a lack of chances, it’s down to poor finishing. This is why I’m backing Diaz to have at least four shots at 5/4, rather than to have over 1 shot on target at 13/8.
Diaz has had two shots on target in two of his four matches, but with Colombia’s finishing not matching their approach play, backing four or more shots looks safer.
The two legs of the bet that cover Manzambi to score or assist and Diaz to have over 4 shots both carry over into extra-time if required. This increases the chances of both legs winning as this match could easily go the distance.
Switzerland vs Colombia odds
Colombia will start the match as the 13/10 favourites to win in 90 minutes and they are also the clear favourites to qualify for the quarter-finals at 8/13. The Swiss are 5/2 to win in 90 minutes and 13/10 to win the tie.
The match to end in a draw after 90 minutes is 21/10. While in the method of victory betting, Colombia are 9/1 to win after extra-time and 17/2 to win on penalties. Switzerland are 14/1 to win after extra-time and also 17/2 to win on penalties.
- Switzerland win – 5/2 with BetVictor
- Draw – 21/10 with Paddy Power
- Colombia win – 13/10 with Sky Bet
Switzerland vs Colombia match prediction and line-ups
Both nations look equally matched on paper and both are extremely well organised and hard to break down.
This match could go all the way to spot kicks, but given Switzerland’s recent record in knockout matches that have gone beyond 90 minutes, that should favour Colombia.
The Swiss have been knocked out of the last three Euros via penalty shootouts. They did manage one shootout win in that run (over France in the delayed Euro 2020), but they have lost three of their last four.
I’m going for a 1-1 draw in normal time, with Colombia to win the tie in either extra-time or on penalties.
Prediction: Switzerland 1-1 Colombia
- Colombia to win the tie by any method
- Johan Manzambi to score or assist
Switzerland Predictions: Michel Aebischer and Luca Jaquez both have injuries and look set to miss out. Other than that, Murat Yakin’s squad are at full strength and should stick with the 4-2-3-1 system that has so far seen them get the best out of Johan Manzambi at this World Cup.
- Predicted XI: Kobel; Zakaria, Elvedi, Akanji, Rodriguez; Xhaka, Freuler; Ndoye, Manzambi, Vargas; Embolo.
Colombia predictions: Jhon Cordoba has been ruled out of the remainder of the competition with the hamstring injury he picked up in Colombia’s 1-0 win over Ghana in the Round of 32.
Sporting Lisbon forward Luis Suarez looks set to return to the starting line-up in place of Cordoba, with the South Americans sticking with their trusted 4-3-3 system.
- Predicted XI: Vargas; Munoz, Sanchez, Lucumi, Mojica; Lerma, Arias, Puerta; Rodriguez, Suarez, Diaz. are the two genuine uncertainties to monitor before placing.
