Super Bowl halftime show: Bad Bunny gives legendary, all-time performance

Bad Bunny’s halftime show was under scrutiny for months leading up to the Super Bowl, and when the dust settled the world’s No. 1 artist gave us one of the greatest halftime show performances of all time. It was a show that put a premium on joy above everything else, with an ode to America, all of it.

The star-studded performance was fairly light on musical cameos with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin both making short appearances, with the focus entirely on Bad Bunny’s hits, blended with peerless stage production to give us something utterly unique, and very special.

Honoring migrant workers, the people of Puerto Rico, Latin American communities, their contributions, and even having a friggin’ wedding in the middle of the halftime show was an unforgettable tapestry of love, unity, and culture. It was everything we needed right now, and tonally it was perfect. Bad Bunny didn’t make any overt references to ICE, or the federal government, or anything people assumed might happen. Instead, the message was simple: Love conquers hate. America is uniquely special, from Argentina to Canada we all make up this continent and bring our of stories to the table to make something special.

When the fireworks and dust settled Bad Bunny held aloft a football wth a simple, beautiful message “Together, We Are America” while an in-stadium screen read: “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”

This was one of the greatest halftime shows in history, without many that can hold a candle to it. Sorry if you wasted your time on Kid Rock.
