Super Bowl commercials: The best and worst of 2026 Seahawks-Patriots game

The Super Bowl is about football to most of us, and commercials for everyone else. Companies roll out their biggest, boldest, most bombastic ads for the big game — and we’re here to rate every single one of them.

For the purposes of this we’re not going to be judging movie trailers. They’re a huge part of the ads, but don’t really move the needle. Also a true Super Bowl commercial begins at kickoff, takes a break at halftime, then comes back in the second. So let’s go.

1st quarter

State Fame Keenan Michael Key and Danny McBride: 4/10

It’s fun seeing these two, but that’s where the fun ended.

Toyota younger kids: 1/10

Manufactured emotion is cheesy as hell and this was designed to get idiots to fawn over it.

Instacart with Ben Stiller and Benson Boon: 7/10

Not gonna lie, it made me laugh when Stiller did a flip off the stage through the drums.

Michelob Ultra Kurt Russell: 7/10

Back-to-back bangers. Just a solid ad all around.

Serena Williams for ro.co 2/10

Serena is cool, and Sleigh Bells are cool. That’s why this ad didn’t get a 1/10.

Wix website design: 1/10

In the three minutes since watching this commercial I forgot what it was about.

Liquid Death exploding heads: 5/10

I reserve the right to give this a lower grade later, but it’s slim pickings on decent ads.

2nd quarter

Lay’s Potato Farmer: 1/10

I don’t care about this man’s livlihood.

Oakley Meta: Athletic Intelligence: 2/10

I had hope kicking off with Marshawn, but if you need to ask if its okay to eat mud you’re an idiot.

Squarespace with Emma Stone’s domain: 5/10

I like the Hitchcock quality of this more than most people would.

T-Mobile with the Backstreet Boys: 4/10

Fun idea, mediocre execution.

Pepsi and the Cheating polar bears: 5/10

A ho-hum ad that was saved by mocking a CEO and his mistress

Redfin with the lost dog: 3/10

Manufactured emotion again. I like the sentiment though.

Levi’s and butts: 3/10

Too many butts.
