Suns’ Jalen Green calls out refs after Deni Avdija’s free throw parade

The Phoenix Suns and Portland Trail Blazers were in a battle during the Play-In Tournament, but the home team was not able to prevail in the end. The Suns had an 11-point lead in the fourth quarter, but the Blazers were led by Deni Avdija to help them go on a run and take the lead.

The Suns still had a chance in the end to win the game, and Green had a look at a three-pointer that missed, but he fell after it looked like he was fouled.

After the game, Green noted that the shot was a good look, but also called out the refs for not calling a foul, which was a reason he thinks they blew the 11-point lead.

“Calling that same foul. They’ve got to call that both ways if they’re going to call it for one person all night, in my opinion,” Green said via Duane Rankins of AZ Central.

Avdija went to the free-throw line 13 times during the game, and he finished with 41 points and 12 assists. He was the main culprit for the Suns, and even Devin Booker said not being able to stop him from getting downhill was a reason that they lost. Booker also thinks they’ve gotten too comfortable with leads toward the end of games, which leads to blowing them.

“That’s been the story at the end of our season so far. I think we just need to remain aggressive. I think we get a lead and then kind of slow down a little bit. That’s not what got us the lead in the first place. Just continue to play the next action and continue to play faster,” Booker said via Rankins.

Luckily for the Suns, they have another chance to advance to the playoffs, as they’ll face the winner of the Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers game.
