Suns fans aren’t even mad after Thunder sweep

The 2025-26 season is officially over for the Phoenix Suns. On Monday night, the Suns became the first of 16 teams that qualified for the playoffs to bow out of championship contention, as the Oklahoma City Thunder completed the four-game series sweep with a 131-122 victory on Monday night in Game 4.

This Suns team deserves plenty of credit for making it this far into the season. They survived the play-in tournament gauntlet despite being upset in the 7/8 play-in tournament clash against the Portland Trail Blazers, and they gave it their all against the Thunder even though they were missing crucial pieces such as Mark Williams (missed the entire series) and Grayson Allen (missed Games 1 and 2 on the road).

After trading Kevin Durant away in the offseason, there weren’t very many high expectations for the Suns. Making matters worse, hamstring problems limited Jalen Green to just 32 games played on the season just a year after suiting up in all 82 games. Dillon Brooks even missed significant time with a broken hand.

Despite all that adversity, the Suns still made it to the playoffs, only to run into the buzzsaw that is the reigning champion Thunder. And Suns fans are in a state of acceptance despite seeing their team get swept, as pulling off an upset against the more well-rounded elite Thunder team would have required a miracle of divine proportions anyway.

“Bringing this suns team to the playoffs is a feat in itself, esp after running with no center for most of the szn,” X user @Nat_________ wrote.

“Honestly, I think the Phoenix Suns overperformed this year, which makes next season even more exciting. There’s still plenty of room to grow, and I know it’s not a popular take, but they’re in a solid spot moving forward,” @sml41 added.

“Great year for us because I thought we wouldn’t make the playoffs in the start but this team always surprises me,” @JimmyThePro1008 furthered.

“I AM SO PROUD OF THE SUNS!! TILL NEXT SEASON. LOVE YOU ALL!💜💜🧡,” @MarieStink2024 expressed.
