Spurs’ Victor Wembanyama free throw choke job has fans in a frenzy

The San Antonio Spurs led Game 4 of the NBA Finals by as much as 29 points. They led by 20 points in the fourth quarter. Yet, it all came crashing down as the New York Knicks completed the greatest NBA Finals comeback in league history, winning 107-106.

With just over two minutes left, Jalen Brunson nailed a triple to cut the deficit to one point. On the other end, Victor Wembanyama was fouled and headed to the free-throw line.

Shockingly, Wemby bricked both free throws.

The Knicks then took their first lead of the game with under two minutes left. San Antonio bounced back, with second-year guard Stephon Castle once again showing he has nerves of steel. He stepped up and knocked down a couple of free throws.

After both teams exchanged misses, it came down to one final possession. Brunson missed a deep triple over the outstretched arms of Wembanyama, but OG Anunoby tipped in the rebound for the game-winner.

Afterward, fans took to X, formerly Twitter, ripping the 7-foot-5 big man for the Spurs.

“Nah i genuinely cannot believe what i seen in this nba finals game. actual historic disasterclass were witnessing here. bad. victor wembanyama has never been under such pressure in his life. look at him when he was taking both free throws he missed. gulping overly not locked in,” one fan wrote.

“Never want to hear “Victor Wembanyama is the best basketball player in the world” when he is the most unclutch player I’ve ever seen.. make free throws moron,” another fan chimed in.

After Anunoby’s tip-in, the Spurs had one last chance. They inbounded the ball with 1.2 seconds left, but Castle was unable to get a shot off before time expired.

Madison Square Garden was a wild scene as the Knicks pull within one win of their first NBA title in 53 years.
