Spurs’ home looked absolutely beautiful in Victor Wembanyama’s playoff debut
All roads led to Frost Bank Center on Sunday as the San Antonio Spurs hosted the Portland Trail Blazers in Game 1 of their first-round series in the playoffs.
It was the Spurs’ first game in the playoffs after a six-year drought. It was also Victor Wembanyama’s postseason debut, so fans of different shapes and sizes came in droves—and in different colors too.
The arena looked incredible as fans wore shirts featuring the fiesta colors of the Spurs to match the court. They were specifically divided into different sections to make Frost Bank Center even more aesthetic.

The Spurs use the fiesta colors for their city edition jerseys. The fans knew the assignment and made it exactly that: A festival at home.

The gimmick was a concerted effort by the whole organization, with Keldon Johnson even imploring the fans to wear the shirts.
“I’m gonna make sure, when I’m at the game, if I see you without your shirt, I’m gonna call you out. So you need to wear your shirt,” joked Johnson in the video posted by Sports Illustrated’s Matt Guzman.
Turning serious, he added: “We have the best fans in the NBA. We know they’re going above and beyond to make sure that we feel the love and support.”

With Johnson, Wembanyama, Stephon Castle, and De’Aaron Fox leading the charge, the Spurs earned the second seed in the playoffs after tallying a 62-20 record. It was their first 60-win season since 2016-2017.
San Antonio is heavily favored against Portland, which had to go through the Play-In Tournament to advance to the playoffs. The Trail Blazers, however, have proven to be dangerous, and the Spurs cannot be too complacent.
As of writing, the Spurs are ahead at halftime, 59-49.
