Sparks’ Kelsey Plum breaks down historic start to 2026 WNBA season
The Los Angeles Sparks may be at the lower half of the team standings, but Kelsey Plum is on an absolute heater to start the season.
Plum has been on an offensive onslaught in their first four games, averaging 26.8 points on 59.6% shooting, including 41.7% from three-point territory. She is also logging 5.5 assists and 1.3 steals. Her four straight games with at least 25 points are tied for the longest streak in league history, according to ESPN.
The Sparks, however, are 1-3. But as the 31-year-old Plum said, everything will get better if they continue to put in the work. Because that is exactly what she did, crediting her offseason for her strong start to the campaign.
“I think Unrivaled was a great fit for me. Just working on my game, working on finishing, points in the paint, playing with pace, preparing my body for the tough W season,” said Plum, who led Phantom BC to the finals in her first stint in Unrivaled.
She stressed that she continued to show up despite the possibility of a lockout. Plum was at the forefront of the negotiations between the WNBA and the WNBA Players Association for the collective bargaining agreement.
“You just gotta take it day by day. There were definitely days when I felt like, ‘I don’t know if we’re gonna have a season.’ Then other days, I felt, ‘You know what, it doesn’t matter.’ I just gotta stay consistent in the work and in the process. I’m super proud of the end result. I feel like it checked so many boxes,” added Plum.

The two-time champion and four-time All-Star definitely knows how to win, and it is just a matter of time until the Sparks get rolling.
The Sparks will face the Phoenix Mercury on Thursday.
