Shaq sends Anthony Edwards warning to Ayo Dosunmu after Timberwolves’ injuries

On Saturday evening, the Minnesota Timberwolves picked up an improbable Game 4 win over the Denver Nuggets thanks to a 43-point outburst off the bench from Ayo Dosunmu. Dosunmu picked up the slack in a major way after Anthony Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo both went down with devastating injuries that will keep them out for the remainder of the series.

Recently, Shaquille O’Neal broke down how Dosunmu will have to approach the series moving forward in the absences of the team’s starting backcourt on “Inside The NBA.”

“They have to concentrate on one game… Ayo Dosunmu must understand that they’re gonna treat him like Anthony Edwards now,” said O’Neal, per NBA on ESPN on X, formerly Twitter.

Dosunmu sure looked up to the challenge on Saturday night, torching the Nuggets’ defense with a combination of strong drives to the rim and a feathery outside shooting touch, the exact traits that the Timberwolves hoped they would be getting when they acquired him from the Chicago Bulls prior to the deadline.

However, even they likely couldn’t have envisioned a performance as strong as the one Dosunmu turned in during Game 4 against Denver.

The Timberwolves now improbably have the Nuggets against the ropes, holding a 3-1 lead in the series, but closing this series out without both Edwards and DiVincenzo will be no easy task, especially against a championship-vetted Denver team.

Going forward, the Timberwolves will likely lean heavily on players like Julius Randle and Jaden McDaniels to put pressure on the Nuggets’ defense, while Dosunmu will assuredly slot into a starting role for the rest of the series.

In any case, Game 5 is set for Monday evening back in Denver.
