Shaq hits LeBron James with ‘modest arrogant’ label in quest for 50,000 points

Shaquille O’Neal dished out strong Philadelphia 76ers takes during the week of July 27. Ranging from believing Joel Embiid will reclaim the top center label, to LeBron James’ arrival.

The latter carries a “modest arrogant” label plastered by Shaq himself.

O’Neal appeared on “The Old Man and the Three” podcast to weigh in on the legend’s quest for 50,000 points.

“LeBron is a modest arrogant guy. For example, he’s loving the fact that he’s the No. 1 scorer in the league,” O’Neal said. “Because for him it’s like ‘Guess what? If I could put this s— so far out of reach, nobody will ever do it.'”

O’Neal himself believed he’d pull off something similar if he were in that situation James is in.

“If I could play two more years and put all those records out of reach, I would…because when it’s over it’s over,” O’Neal said.

O’Neal acknowledged he would never surpass the previous mark held by NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. James is well above Abdul-Jabbar’s 38,387-point total. The four-time NBA champion O’Neal believes he’ll also be dead by the time someone else surpasses James’ point total once he calls it a career.

James’ next points now will come in a 76ers uniform following his stunning NBA Free Agency move. He’ll join a room comprising of Maxey plus former Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown. James came close to joining another legend, though.

Anthony Slater of ESPN revealed Tuesday that James expressed interest in teaming with Steph Curry, except not at Golden State. Talks never materialized there, though, plus it wasn’t revealed which team they wanted to join.
