Serena Williams learned discipline is ‘important’ with kids the hard way
Parenting is hard, as tennis icon Serena Williams recently learned with one of her daughters. She shared her recent learning experience on X, formerly Twitter, with her fans.
Williams recalled asking her daughter to go to bed. Naturally, her kid did not want to, and in turn, “she missed out on her sleep over.” This caused her daughter to cry, which made Williams cry as well, but she remained strong even if she didn’t like hearing her child cry.
“I told my daughter to go to bed. She did not[,] therefore, she missed out on her sleep over,” Williams said. “She cried. But what she did not know is I cried harder. I hate when she cries. [broken heart emoji] Discipline sucks. But sometimes it’s important.”
How many daughters does Serena Williams have?

Williams has two daughters, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. and Adira River Ohanian. She had both children with her husband, Alexis Ohanian.
Ohanian is the co-founder of the social media website Reddit. He proposed to Williams in December 2016, and their first child was born months later. Their wedding would take place on Nov. 16, 2017, just over two months after their first daughter was born.
Williams has retired from tennis, but she was a legend during her career. She won countless titles throughout her career, including 73 WTA Tour-level singles titles.
In addition to her playing career, Williams dipped her toe into acting. She has appeared in episodes of shows like Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, ER, All of Us, Punk’d, Avatar: The Last Airbender, MADtv, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and Drop Dead Diva.
Additionally, she has made cameos in movies like Pixels, Ocean’s 8, and Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery. In 2021, Williams produced a biopic about her father, Richard, titled King Richard. Will Smith starred in the movie as Richard.
