Senators’ Thomas Chabot’s 5-word power play message after Hurricanes loss
The Ottawa Senators fell to the Carolina Hurricanes in Game 3 on Thursday night. The Senators now have their backs firmly up against the wall. Ottawa is down 3-0 in the series, and they are on the brink of elimination. Thomas Chabot and his teammates have to figure things out sooner rather than later.
One area that could stand to improve is the power play. Ottawa has had its chances on the man advantage. However, they have failed to score on any of them. After Thursday’s loss, the Senators are 0-for-12 on the power play in this series.
After Game 3, Chabot spoke with the media. He did not mince his words in the slightest when it came to the power play. He was clearly upset with how the unit performed. “Our power play was awful,” the Senators defenseman said, via Postmedia reporter Bruce Garrioch.
The Senators offense as a whole has struggled against the Hurricanes. They were shutout in Game 1, and have mustered a total of three goals the entire series. Ottawa has not produced offensively, and Carolina has taken full advantage of this.
Ottawa has shown recent resiliency in the postseason. Last season, the Sens were down in their series against the Toronto Maple Leafs. They did not win that series, but they were able to push it to six games.
The Senators are hoping that same resiliency can be found this year. They don’t have a ton of time to find it, either. Ottawa will skate in Game 4 on Saturday with their season on the line in Raleigh, North Carolina.
