Seahawks rumors: The 2 trades that were discussed before drafting Jadarian Price

The Seattle Seahawks strengthened their backfield by selecting former Notre Dame standout Jadarian Price with the 32nd overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Price is expected to fill the void left by Kenneth Walker III and team up with Zach Charbonnet.

His former high school coach praised him highly during an appearance on 93.3 KJR, describing the 22-year-old as “the most honorable man” he has ever coached.

He highlighted Price’s character and dedication, noting that Price graduated from high school early to join the Fighting Irish.

According to a report from ESPN, the decision to stay at the 32nd pick came after a high-stakes atmosphere in the draft room.

Seattle’s primary target was San Diego State cornerback Chris Johnson, but the Miami Dolphins disrupted that plan by trading up to the 27th spot.

This left the Seahawks with the choice of either selecting Price right away or trading back, and ESPN also reported that Seattle considered potential trades with the Tennessee Titans (No. 35) and the New York Giants (No. 37), but both negotiations ultimately fell through.

Tension mounted when Tennessee moved up to the 31st pick, raising concerns that they might select Price just before Seattle’s turn, and there were also worries that the rival 49ers might target him with the first pick of the second round.

With Charbonnet recovering from ACL surgery, the Seahawks believed there was a significant gap between Price and the next tier of running backs, such as Jonah Coleman and Mike Washington Jr.

General Manager John Schneider later commented that, although trade discussions collapsed, Price “kind of stood alone” as their target.

The selection also prompted a humorous reaction from Price’s former Notre Dame teammate, Jeremiyah Love.

Love, who was picked third overall by the Arizona Cardinals, joked during a press conference that he “felt bad” for Price moving to the Pacific Northwest.

He playfully questioned the city’s appeal, asking, “What’s so good about Seattle?” and claimed he had never heard of anyone going there for vacation.
