Seahawks rumors: Pre-draft meeting with potential Kenneth Walker III replacement revealed

With Kenneth Walker joining the Kansas City Chiefs in free agency, the Seattle Seahawks are now in need of a new running back. The 2026 NFL Draft will offer them an opportunity to add some long-term talent.

The Seahawks only have four draft picks total in 2026, meaning their resources will be limited. But one option would be using one of their selections on Arkansas running back Mike Washington Jr., via Matt Miller of ESPN.

“It’s no secret the Seahawks want to add a running back in this class, and I’ve heard Mike Washington Jr. (Arkansas) has met with them in the run-up to the draft,” Miller wrote.

Washington had a winding collegiate journey, beginning with three years at Buffalo, a stop at New Mexico State and ultimately ending with Arkansas. Over 51 games total, he turned 587 carries into 2,914 yards and 26 touchdowns. Washington added another 73 grabs for 470 yards and three touchdowns.

In his final season with Arkansas, the running back set a new career-high with 1,070 yards, tying his career-best eight rushing touchdowns. His 226 receiving yards were also a career-high. Washington was named Second-team All-SEC for his efforts.

With Walker gone, Zach Charbonnet would be in line to be the Seahawks’ new RB1. However, he is working his way back from a torn ACL and won’t be ready for Week 1. Instead, Seattle’s running back is currently lead by names such as Emanuel Wilson and George Holani.

Adding Washington to the mix would certainly give Seattle an extra spark. By visiting with him pre-draft, the Seahawks have an even better understanding of what the running back is made of.
