Seahawks’ Jaxon Smith-Njigba calls out NFL for ‘disrespectful’ OPOY trophy gaffes
The Seattle Seahawks won a lot of hardware during the 2025 season. Seattle defeated New England in Super Bowl 60, bringing home their second Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. One Seahawks player also brought home his own hardware, but it came riddled with multiple mistakes.
Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba shared a video of his new Offensive Player of the Year trophy. The problem is that it came with a few major typos.
JSN pointed out that the trophy listed him as Defensive Player of the Year by mistake. Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett unanimously won that award.
“It’s getting disrespectful at this point,” Smith-Nijgba captioned his post on social media.
JSN followed up that post with a selfie of himself after he discovered yet another typo on the trophy. There is a space missing between the words “the” and “year” just below where it says “defensive” instead of “offensive”.
“Just keep the award at this point,” JSN captioned the photo. “Leave it in the history books tho.”
Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s award is also missing a space between “the year,” so it now incorrectly reads “theyear.”
This was the subsequent picture JSN posted of himself in response to the bizarre plaque he received.

There is no question that Smith-Njigba earned his Offensive Player of the Year award during the 2025 season. He had an incredible season, logging 119 receptions for 1,793 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.
Fortunately, JSN has more than just a typo-plagued trophy to celebrate his 2025 campaign. Seattle inked Smith-Njigba to a massive four-year contract worth $168.6 million on March 23rd. It should keep him in Seattle through the 2031 season.
The Seahawks let a lot of talent walk out the door during the 2026 offseason. Hopefully JSN can lead Seattle’s remaining players on another Super Bowl run this fall.
