Sabrina Carpenter, Madonna reject Knicks players from star-studded Met Gala afterparty after Game 1 win

Despite being on top of the world following the New York Knicks’ Game 1 win over the Philadelphia 76ers, some of the players were quickly humbled after being rejected from an afterparty thrown by Sabrina Carpenter and Madonna following the 2026 Met Gala event.

TMZ reports that “several” Knicks players tried to get into Carpenter and Madonna’s Met Gala afterparty, which was held at Zero Bond late on Monday, May 4, 2026.

The party was held on the club’s main fifth floor, and there was a “strict guest list” that capped around 200 people. TMZ notes that the space can hold “nearly double” that number, though.

So, any hopefuls’ fates were left to the guest list. The Knicks weren’t alone in the list of rejections. Per TMZ, “plenty of known faces got turned away” as well. This was because Carpenter and Madonna wanted the party to remain “intentionally intimate.”

The players who got rejected were not named. However, it does appear that it was several players. While the celebrities were walking the red carpet at the Met Gala, they were beating the Sixers by 39 points in Game 1 of their series.

Who made it to Sabrina Carpenter and Madonna’s Met Gala afterparty instead of the Knicks?

While there weren’t any Knicks players at Carpenter and Madonna’s Met Gala afterparty, a lot of other celebrities made it. The party went from around 1 am to 4 am.

Katy Perry, Margot Robbie, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Serena Williams, Baz Luhrmann, Adrien Brody, Georgina Chapman, Jeff Bezos, and Lauren Sánchez were all there.

They did note that Perry’s ex, Orlando Bloom, was also at the party. Luckily, it doesn’t sound like there was any drama between the two.

There was a lot of security at the event. TMZ notes that “the entire block around the venue was shut down and heavily guarded.” After being rejected, some of the Knicks players went to The Box.
