Rockets’ Ime Udoka shares Kevin Durant injury update for Game 5

Fans of the Houston Rockets were deeply concerned when it was announced that Kevin Durant would miss Game 4 against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday due to a sprained ankle.

The Rockets were in a win-or-go-home situation, and they needed Durant, their best player, to suit up. Fortunately, multiple players stepped up, as Houston defeated Los Angeles, 115-96, at Toyota Center to stay alive in the first-round series and avoid a sweep.

Durant, who trolled Deandre Ayton when he was ejected in the third quarter, also missed Game 1 due to a knee contusion.

The Rockets have two days of rest before Game 5 at Crypto.com Arena on Wednesday, which should bode well for the 37-year-old Durant.

When asked about the two-time Finals MVP’s status for Game 5, Houston coach Ime Udoka refused to speculate too much, as reported by ESPN’s Vanessa Richardson.

“Kevin Durant’s status is game-to-game, per Ime Udoka. He has not been ruled out for the series,” wrote Richardson on X.

Durant has only played in Game 2, tallying 23 points, six rebounds, and four assists. He was limited to three points in the second half, as the Rockets succumbed to the Lakers.

The 16-time All-Star played 78 games in the regular season, the most he has had since his last year with the Golden State Warriors.

Before Game 4, Udoka noted that a bone bruise has complicated Durant’s sprained ankle, creating “swelling, stiffness, and lack of mobility.” Udoka noted that the veteran forward is receiving “round-the-clock treatment.”

The Rockets are looking to become the first team in league history to win a series in the playoffs after a 3-0 deficit.
