Rhea Ripley injury leads to major WWE creative changes

Just weeks after winning the WWE Women’s World title from Jade Cargill at WrestleMania 42, Ripley followed it up with another title defense at Clash in Italy 2026. However, shortly after, it was announced that Ripley was sidelined with an injury.

On last week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown, it was announced that Ripley was sidelined with a knee injury. This news comes just months after Ripley had injured and fractured her orbital bone in 2024.

Shortly after the news of Ripley’s injury spread like wildfire, Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select reported that there were significant creative changes not only for Ripley but for several other women on the WWE SmackDown roster. Since Ripley’s injury and her expected hiatus, several plans have been adjusted to fit the unfortunate event. The promotion has already adjusted the Night of Champions advertisement to remove Rhea Ripley and swap her with Tiffany Stratton.

Rhea Ripley, a powerhouse on the WWE roster known for her impressive physique, has recently appeared to have shed some pounds. A few months ago, when a social media post went viral about Ripley’s weight loss, “Mami” decided to come online and clear the rumors herself.

Ripley responded to Revival Fitness’ post and revealed that she was currently dealing with an eating disorder. “Just a little eating disorder that I’m actively trying to handle [peace sign emoji],” Ripley responded. An extremely private matter, Ripley found the desired support online with her fans taking her side against the trolls.
