Red Wings sign free-agent forward to entry-level contract
The Detroit Red Wings announced on Sunday that they have signed forward Theo Rochette to a one-year entry-level contract for the 2026-27 season.
The Swiss-born, undrafted forward spent the 2025-26 campaign with Lausanne HC in Switzerland’s National League, finishing with 22 goals and 21 assists for 43 points in 46 regular-season games. Rochette also recorded a plus-12 rating, ranked first on his team with eight power-play goals, tied for first with two shorthanded goals, and contributed two game-winning goals. He ranked second on the team with 126 shots and led with a 17.5 shooting percentage.
In the 2025-26 postseason, Rochette supplied seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) in seven games. During the 2024-25 season with Lausanne HC, he posted 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) in 38 games, along with a plus-eight rating and 10 penalty minutes. In that same year’s playoffs, he added 17 points (11 goals, 6 assists) across 19 appearances. Across his three seasons with Lausanne HC since 2023-24, Rochette has accumulated 104 points (50 goals, 54 assists), a plus-24 rating, and 61 penalty minutes in 131 regular-season games. He also contributed four points in 14 Champions Hockey League contests.
Before his professional career in Europe, Rochette played major junior hockey in the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League with Chicoutimi Sagueneens and Quebec Remparts from 2018 to 2023. Over 271 regular-season games, he amassed 317 points (115 goals, 202 assists) and a plus-106 rating. In the 2022–23 season with Quebec, he racked up 106 points (42 goals, 64 assists) in 65 games, followed by 21 points (4 goals, 17 assists) in 18 playoff games, helping secure a QMJHL championship. He also collected six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in four Memorial Cup games, helping Quebec win the title.
On the international stage, Rochette recorded six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in 10 games at the 2026 IIHF Men’s World Championship, helping Switzerland reach the final where they lost to Finland in overtime.
