Red Sox’ manager provides crucial Trevor Story injury update
It has been an awful season for the Boston Red Sox, and injuries have not helped. But manager Chad Tracy has provided an injury update on Trevor Story, and when he might return to the lineup, according to a report from MLB.com
“Progressing pretty nicely, according to interim manager Chad Tracy. Jogging at good pace, has swung off of a tee. Won’t be eligible to be activated until just after the All-Star break,” Tracy told MLB.com.
Story has been out with a groin injury since May 16. Before his injury, he was struggling, batting just .206 with three home runs, 19 RBIs, and 16 runs. Story is looking to return to his form last season, when he hit .263 with 25 home runs, 96 RBIs, and 91 runs scored. Also, he stole 31 bases on 32 attempts.
Despite the Sox’s struggles, they could use some optimism, and Story’s return to the lineup could help. Yet, by the time he returns, the Red Sox could be in sell mode. Story has been progressing in his recovery, but he is still not ready. Therefore, that could provide a challenge for the organization.
