Raptors’ Immanuel Quickley to miss remainder of Cavs series with hamstring injury
Toronto Raptors fans were riding high following a decisive 126-104 victory in Game 3 of the team’s first-round NBA playoffs matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The No. 5 seed in the East looked completely rejuvenated at home, and better yet, more firepower was expected to arrive. Immanuel Quickley has been recovering from a hamstring strain and was trying to rejoin the squad before series’ end. Unfortunately, that optimal scenario is no longer a possibility.
Quickley re-injured his right hamstring during his rehab process and will now be sidelined for the remainder of the opening round, per ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel. His status moving forward, should the Raptors upset the Cavs and advance to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, is presently unclear. The 26-year-old guard has not played since the regular season finale on April 12.
Toronto managed to blow out Cleveland in Game 3 without Quickley, but doing so three of the next four times will be difficult. He provides valuable offensive production for a team that shoots just 35.4 percent from 3-point range (21st in NBA). The show goes on, though.
The Raptors will have the weekend to prepare for a hugely important Game 4 on Sunday afternoon, as they try to apply pressure on a squad that has recently scuffled in the playoffs. Another win in Scotiabank Arena would give Toronto added confidence going back to Cleveland.
A disappointed but still motivated Immanuel Quickley will be cheering on his team as he tries to shake this injury. The 2022-23 Sixth Man of the Year runner-up averaged 16.4 points with 5.9 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 70 games while shooting 44.3 percent from the field and 37.4 percent from distance.
