Rangers’ Jonathan Quick looks back on career after last NHL game
New York Rangers goaltender Jonathan Quick will retire at the end of the 2025-26 season. New York is not going to the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and are in fact last place in the Eastern Conference. As a result, Quick’s appearance on Monday represents the final game of his career.
Unfortunately, the Rangers were unable to get their veteran netminder a win. They fell to the Florida Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Monday. However, the future Hall of Famer is still holding his head high. And he took time to reflect on his career following Monday’s loss.
“It takes you down memory lane a little bit. Very fortunate to play as long as I did and with the people I did. Great people, great teammates, great families. Very fortunate for the relationships I was able to make throughout my career,” the Rangers netminder said in a clip posted to social media by SNY Rangers.
Quick has spent the last few years of his career with New York. However, he is best known for his time as the goaltender of the Los Angeles Kings. The Hartford native led Los Angeles to two Stanley Cups in 2012 and 2014. Ironically, he defeated the Rangers in 2014 to win his second Cup. He won the Conn Smythe Trophy as playoff MVP in 2012.
In addition to the Rangers and Kings, the future Hall of Famer has also skated for the Vegas Golden Knights. He joined the Golden Knights after being traded twice in 2023. He helped the Knights win their first Stanley Cup in 2023, giving Quick three Cups for his career.
