Rams drop ‘Friday’-inspired NFL Draft hype video with Ice Cube, Chris Tucker ties
The Los Angeles Rams found a way to blend football anticipation with pure Los Angeles culture.
Ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft, the team released a three-minute mini film titled “Thursday,” a clear nod to the 1995 cult classic Friday. The video leans fully into nostalgia, casting O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Destin Tucker as modern versions of Craig and Smokey.
The concept lands immediately. Two familiar faces, two legacy names, and one shared goal, building hype for draft night in a way only LA can.

‘Thursday’ taps culture, comedy and Rams history
The short film pulls in more than just recognizable names. Terry Crews steals a scene with a parody of Deebo, recreating the legendary “What chain?” moment with a Rams twist, “What ring?”
Crews rides in on a beach cruiser, backed by linebackers Jared Verse and Byron Young, merging past and present in one frame. Later, he flexes his way into another callback, prompting the classic “damn” reaction from Jackson Jr. and Tucker.
Elsewhere, YG appears in full character, while guard Kevin Dotson channels Big Worm energy as “Big K-Dot,” even delivering a playful line about draft picks and emotions.
The video builds toward its message. As draft anticipation grows, Tucker delivers, “This Thursday is going to make our whole season.” Jackson Jr. follows with a reminder not to overlook what comes next.
The Rams close with a familiar idea, a lot can happen between Thursday and Saturday, and in this case, they made sure fans feel every second of it.
