Quin Snyder gives props to Knicks after Game 1 win: ‘Pick your poison’

Atlanta Hawks head coach Quin Snyder gave the New York Knicks their flowers after a 113-102 loss in Game 1 of their best-of-7 series. The Knicks have a 1-0 lead in the first round. All-Star Jalen Brunson scored 19 of his 28 points in the opening frame before closing out the Hawks in the final mintues of the fourth quarter.

After the game, Snyder addressed the Knicks’ offenisve firepower throughout the game, which extended beyond Brunson’s scoring, he said, per Hawks reporter Darko Dzeletovic.

“That’s a common theme, and it’ll be a these throughout the playoffs,” Snyder said. “The level of success they have whenever OG scores over 20 points. It gets back to efficiency, and that’s a challenge for us right now.”

Snyder explained how it was difficult for the Hawks to stop the bleeding after Brunson’s 19-point outburst in the first quarter.

“It’s a little bit of pick your poison,” Snyder added. “How do you handle them on the post with the mismatch? Do you just guard him? How do you handle the pick-and-roll? How do you handle Brunson in the pick-and-roll? I think for us to be prepared for all of those situations, you can adjust every time, and obvioulsy, we will be doing that. That’s no secret. That’s what great offensive players demand. Hopefully, we can do a better job guarding him than we have.”

Quin Snyder says forcing Brunson out of his comfort zone is critical for the Hawks. He hopes his team will do a better job in Game 2 on Tuesday.

Mike Brown’s confident take on Knicks’ Jalen Brunson

Knicks head coach Mike Brown addressed Jalen Brunson’s Game 1 performance with high regard. During his postgame media availability, Brown reacted to Brunson’s 28-point performance.

“He stepped up to the plate like he should have done, and he hit some big shots for us early to help us get out front,” Brown.

For Brunson, keeping a positive mindset, was critical.

“No matter what, you gotta think positive,” Brunson said. “You’ve got to be positive and fight through anything.”

The Knicks will host the Hawks in Game 2 on Tuesday.
