Premier League Darts – Week 11 prediction
Last week’s action in Brighton saw Jonny Clayton end a three match losing streak in the Premier League by becoming just the second player this year to earn a third nightly victory, his deciding leg win over Michael van Gerwen catapulting him to the top of the table.
The Welshman now has a three point lead at the top of the standings following his victory and Luke Littler’s surprise quarter final defeat.
This week will see ‘the Ferret’ take on van Gerwen in the third quarter final of the night in a rematch of last week’s final, which saw Clayton triumph 6-5 despite averaging 97 compared to the Dutchman’s 101.
‘Mighty Mike”s run to the final last week, his second in three weeks, saw him keep hold of the all important top four position in the standings, now with a four point cushion of compatriot Gian van Veen.
The winner of Thursday’s match between Clayton and van Gerwen will take on either Stephen Bunting or Josh Rock in the semi final, as two of the bottom three players in the standings go head to head for a huge clash.
Rock, in his first Premier League campaign, lost all of his first seven quarter finals but has since made it through to the semis in each of the last three weeks, and will fancy his chances at achieving the same in Rotterdam on Thursday.
Bunting climbed outside of the bottom two with last week’s victory over world number one Littler before falling short in the deciding leg against van Gerwen in the semi final despite having the higher average.
The night will get underway in the Netherlands with a huge clash between second and third in the table as Littler and Gerwyn Price go head to head.
Both players fell to disappointing quarter final defeats last week, with Littler only averaging 84 in his defeat to Bunting, which contributed to the reigning world champion to lose his place at the top of the table.
Price followed him his victory in the final in Week 9 with a loss against the table’s bottom player, Rock, last week and will be eager for a strong start to the night on Thursday.
The winner of that clash will see van Veen, playing in the Premier League in his home country for the first time up against the defending champion Luke Humphries.
The rookie continued his season-long theme of either losing his quarter final clash or losing in the final after his defeat to his fellow countryman in the last eight last week.
No one has reached more finals in the Premier League this year than the youngster, despite having no wins to show for his four appearances so far, and will no doubt be determined to impress in front of his home crowd on Thursday.
Defending champion Humphries heads to Rotterdam having lost each of his last three quarter final clashes to compound a disappointing year in his title defence, with his most recent defeat to Clayton seeing the English man drop down to seventh in the table.
Both Dutch players will be desperate to go all the way in front of their home fans tonight, and with them both being on separate sides of the draw, an all-Dutch final is very much on the cards.
Premier League Darts – Week 11 betting tips
Dutch Delight in for Mighty Mike
Michael van Gerwen heads to Rotterdam for the Premier League’s Dutch visit in fine form following his run to the final in Brighton last week, which he could consider himself unlucky to lose having been defeated in deciding leg despite averaging higher than the victorious Clayton.
The Dutchman will be determined to get revenge on Clayton in the opening quarter final of Thursday’s, to book a spot in the semi final against either Bunting or Rock, who only have one final place between them.

Gian so nearly the man
No player in the Premier League his year has reached more finals than van Veen, though the Dutch debutant is yet to turn one of those appearances into a win.
The 23-year-old will be seeing Thursday as the perfect opportunity for his first nightly win, needing to beat a desperately underachieving Humphries in the final before a potential semi final clash with either Littler or Price, both of whom disappointed in their surprise quarter final defeats last week.
