Pistons urged to make Kevin Durant trade by Jeff Teague amid flop vs. Magic

On Monday evening, the Detroit Pistons fell into an inexplicable 3-1 hole in their first round playoff series against the Orlando Magic with a brutal 94-88 loss on the road in Game 4. The Pistons continued to struggle mightily to put the ball in the basket during this game, and the team is now in serious danger of becoming one of the rare one seeds to lose their first round playoff matchup to the eight seed.

Many fans are already looking ahead to the offseason, which will be filled with major questions for Detroit if indeed they go on to lose this series, and recently, former NBA guard Jeff Teague proposed a drastic solution to the Pistons’ half-court offensive woes.

“They’re desperate for another scorer and Kevin Durant is still playing at a high level, that would take so much pressure off Cade and so much pressure off Kevin Durant to do everything. I think it would be an easy fit,” said Teague, per the Club 520 podcast, via NBA Courtside on X, formerly Twitter.

Indeed, the Pistons are in dire need of another shot creator to help out Cade Cunningham, which many correctly predicted throughout the regular season would be a major issue for Detroit come playoff time.

Durant is currently a member of the Houston Rockets, who are down 3-1 in their own first-round playoff series against the Los Angeles Lakers. While he remains an elite isolation scorer, there are big questions about Durant’s ability to truly make a team better at this stage of his career, considering the way his last three stops have all crashed and burned.

In any case, the Pistons will look to keep their season alive in Game 5 on Wednesday evening back home in Detroit.
