Phillies star Cristopher Sanchez’s scoreless streak ends at 50.1 innings vs. Padres
Cristopher Sanchez has emerged as one of the best pitchers in baseball. The Philadelphia Phillies southpaw is the current frontrunner to win the National League Cy Young award after his blazing hot start to the season.
On Wednesday, he faced the San Diego Padres for the second straight start. He shoved against them last week in San Diego and repeated his performance at home in front of a sold-out crowd. Sanchez broke the scoreless run streak record in the first inning on Wednesday, but his new record would come to an end quickly. It’s not fun when reality starts to kick in…
Sanchez’s scoreless streak ended at 50.1 innings after Jackson Merrill singled to left field, scoring Ty France.

Sanchez finished the outing, going 7.0 innings, allowing one run off four hits and one walk. He struck out eight hitters on 84 pitches. If SD didn’t get to him in the 7th inning, he may have stayed in the game much longer and could have finished the contest at the rate he was at. His ERA has lowered to 1.46 on the season, despite giving up the one run.
