Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh’s perfect reaction to MLB-leading batting average

The Philadelphia Phillies have won ten of their last 13 games, including a 6-0 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Sunday. In the game, Kyle Schwarber hit two home runs, giving him 16 home runs on the season.

While Schwarber is tied for the league lead in home runs, it is another Phillies bat who is also a league leader. Brandon Marsh, who is hitting .353 on the season, leads MLB with batting average this year. Now, Marsh is reacting to leading the league, per Phillies Nation.

“That’s pretty freaking cool,” Marsh said.

Marsh is hitting the best of his career, hitting .353 with a .383 on-base percetnage. This is the best batting average of his career. He hit .280 last year, which was the best for a season for Marsh. Marsh is also hot at the plate. He has hits in 12 straight games and 17 of the last 18 games.

He is also on fire in the month of May. So far in nine games this month, he is 17 of 34 at the plate, with a double and a triple, plus four RBIs. He has also walked three times. Further, Marsh has scored nine runs, while the Phillies have won seven of the nine games. Marsh is hitting .500 with a .538 on-base percentage so far in May.

The Phillies are also playing much better as of late. They have won ten of the last 13 since making the move to Don Mattingly as the manager. That has pulled them from fourth place in the NL East to a tie for second. The Phillies are now 19-22 overall, but still nine games back of the Atlanta Braves in the division. They open a three-game series with the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday.
