Penn State beats out Texas Tech, Oklahoma for 4-star linebacker

Penn State football sustained a big College Football Recruiting loss with cornerback Zachary Gleason decommitting. But the Nittany Lions made up for it by landing a four-star linebacker Sunday. And winning over this blue chip recruit over powers Texas Tech and Oklahoma on Father’s Day.

Case Alexander rises as the newest win on the trail, revealing his decision via Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals. He even posted these words that’ll fire up PSU fans.

“LBU I’m home,” Alexander said via Fawcett, hailing Penn State as “Linebacker University.”

Penn State creates a huge in-state loss for the Sooners, as Alexander stars for Washington High in Oklahoma. On3/Rivals lists him as the nation’s No. 5 overall prospect and seventh in the outlet’s industry rankings.

Incoming Penn State head coach Matt Campbell gains an instinctive defender who compiled 88 total tackles, 10 behind the line of scrimmage and five sacks. Campbell and PSU fans likely will love Alexander’s sideline-to-sideline pursuits as he erases angles. He brings a still-growing 6-foot-3, 215-pound frame over to his future home State College.

So Alexander’s commitment comes in great timing. Gleason chose Big 12 representative West Virginia in his flip. But he wasn’t their biggest recruitment loss.

Penn State struggled to keep four-star cornerback Semajay Robinson. But he chose Virginia instead of Virginia Tech, with the latter now led by former Nittany Lions head coach James Franklin.

The Lions have collected other wins on the trail, notably four-star tight end Sean Currie on May 23. Currie even turned down longtime Big Ten rival Ohio State in his decision.
