Patriots’ Drake Maye wants to hit restart button on Super Bowl LX

The New England Patriots came up short in Super Bowl LX against the Seattle Seahawks. Quarterback Drake Maye struggled in the Big Game, turning the ball over three times. He was also sacked six times in the loss to the Seahawks.

Maye had struggled throughout the entire postseason, unfortunately. He had his moments when it mattered most. But he ended this postseason with seven fumbles and four interceptions. In Super Bowl LX, he threw two interceptions while fumbling once. Maye threw for two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough.

After the game, the Patriots quarterback reacted to his performance. His answer was understandable and rather straightforward. “I’d like to go back to the beginning and redo it,” Maye said in a clip shared on social media by Sportscenter.

Maye and the Patriots won the AFC East this season after going 4-13 in 2024. New England went on to inverse their record and then some, finishing 14-3. Maye, a second year quarterback out of North Carolina, was an MVP finalist. He lost the award to Los Angeles Rams star Matt Stafford, though.

The postseason saw the offensive struggles for New England truly come out. As mentioned, Maye struggled with turnovers. But he wasn’t alone, at all. The offense could not hold onto the ball, and they weren’t any better about protecting their quarterback in the pocket.

It was a valiant run by the Patriots, all things considered. In the end, New England just didn’t put their best foot forward. What they do this offseason could signal whether the Pats are officially back, or if this was more of a Cinderella run for Maye and his teammates.
