Paige Bueckers reveals meaning behind Met Gala outfit

Paige Bueckers brought basketball and fashion together at the 2026 Met Gala with a custom Coach outfit that reflected her personality and career.

Ahead of the event, the Dallas Wings guard discussed the inspiration behind her colorful three-piece suit during E!’s By Design segment on Live From E! Stream: Met Gala, Eonline reports. The look featured graffiti-style patterns, detailed beadwork, and a hidden nod to her basketball journey.

“All the little details, the beads, the coloring, everything, came together perfectly for me,” Bueckers said. “To be you, express yourself in the way that you want to enjoy the process of making a beautiful masterpiece.”

Bueckers also revealed that the outfit would include an embroidered No. 5 on the sleeve, representing her jersey number.

“For me, basketball is an art,” she said. “I feel like it’s just all of my worlds collabing and colliding.”

Paige Bueckers’ stylist explains the vision

Stylist Jason Golden said the goal centered around elevating classic suiting with bold artistic details.

“We wanted to do something, but then turn it up a notch and really kind of splash around with details,” Golden said.

Golden pointed to the placement of the beadwork and the mix of blue, red, and green tones as major parts of the design. He also praised Bueckers’ strong sense of identity and influence.

“With Paige, her point of view is so iconic and so strong and so relevant right now,” Golden said.

The 2026 Met Gala featured co-chairs including Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams, and Anna Wintour, but Bueckers still found a way to make her own statement through fashion tied closely to basketball.
