Padres’ Mason Miller drops truth bomb on his dominance out of the bullpen

San Diego Padres star closer Mason Miller has been dominant to begin the 2026 MLB season. He has not surrendered a run across eight outings, and he has five saves during that span. The star reliever has also recorded 20 strikeouts in just 8.1 innings of work. Miller is making hitters look foolish at the plate. During a recent appearance on MLB Network, Miller addressed his performance, via MLB.com.

“Confidence is high for sure,” Miller said. “But I think going into any game, it’s not about what you’ve been doing, it’s about what you’re gonna do tonight. So just trying to go in there and, you know, I think every single pitcher has to go in with that mindset, with that confidence, and go dominate the hitters.”

Miller has established himself as the best closer in the sport. The Padres are 12-6 overall so far in the 2026 campaign, and Miller has played a crucial role in the team’s overall success. In fact, some are already suggesting that Miller could win the National League Cy Young Award as a closer during the 2026 season.

For Miller, the focus is on winning games. He is not focused on a scoreless streak or winning individual awards. Rather, he simply wants to do everything he can to help the Padres. He is certainly accomplishing that feat this year.

Mason Miller and the Padres will host the Seattle Mariners on Thursday night in what projects to be a competitive contest. First pitch is scheduled for 8:40 PM EST in San Diego.
